Social Skills Resources:

Social Skills
Social Skills, are called 'skills' for a reason. Some people are better than others and most NT's could do with additional support in this area!
Social Skills are learned, as well as innate. Social Skills are an area in which people on the Autsim Spectrum 'struggle' as they do not neccessarily have the innate abiltiy to adapt to social situations.
The following are suggestions as to how to encourage the development of Social Skills for people on the spectrum:

do2learn has a number of fantastic games to help develop an understanding of facial expressions and emotions, thier Social Skills 'toolbox' is well worth a look, as well as other general resources which are useful and fun for all children!

The National Autistic Society provides a number of advice sheets once you access thier Social Skills: An introduction

Carol Gray has developed and trade-marked her technique called: Social Stories. Social Stories can appear scary at first, but are found to be very effective when used with people on the Autism Spectrum.

Other links and guides to Social Stories:

Autism Help.org breaks down Social Stories but also offers many other pages of information around Social Skills and Communication

autismhelp.info (confusing I know! but both are very helpful)has downloadable Social Stories for you to adapt to your own needs.
